He was immediately transferred to a local clinic for the sustained gunshot, but succumbed to his injuries. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eK-9 Hondo’s police career started in 2015 when he was with the Unified Police Department, where he eventually transferred over to the Herriman Police Department in 2018. Considering the age of K-9 Hondo, the accomplished K-9 was on the verge of retirement from the force. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile it’s heartbreaking to know that K-9 Hondo died in the line of duty, his actions that night likely saved the lives of many officers. Because of him, officers were able go home to their families and loved ones that day – and a wanted fugitive is no longer on the streets.
